Ask the BellHunters

Hello, I'm Dawn Hunter-Bellwether...er, formerly Dawn Bellwether if you didn't recognize the added surname. And before you ask, yes 'that' Dawn Bellwether. Ex-Assistant Mayor, Ex-Mayor, Ex-Criminal Mastermind (Reformed thank you very much), City Savior, Controversial Author, and Predator/Prey relationship advocate. I'm also, as you probably guess by the hyphenated last name, married, and happily so to my mate Vernon Hunter, a gray wolf. I'm also a mother to three wonderful pups, something I never thought I'd ever have the chance to be! But, lamb sakes, I've gushed enough about myself here without explaining exactly what this blog is for. You see, after the release of my book “Predator Seeking Prey”, our little family started to get a lot of public attention again, and with it came a lot of question from curious mammals and other pred/prey couples from all over Animalia. My best friend and mate Vernon thought it would be a good idea to deal with these questions directly by opening a sort of blog/forum and taking those questions about our lives directly. Since then, I'd like to say our little blog has been quite successful, with even members of our family and friend circle pitching in and taking a few questions as well. So with all that said., please feel free to Ask Away!

Oh, and also, feel free to check our old location for previous asks until we can get a better archive system in place!

If you haven't read them, it'll probably help you better understand what's going on here if you do. I'll link both stories below. Oh Also, I'm open to questions as well. Simply direct “Author” emails to “WastedTime” when composing them. And before I forget, I have a Patreon! Five dollars gets you access to in progress fics, Ask priority, and art previews of both SFW and NSFW art. Of course, even a dollar would help. Seriously, it's how I keep projects like this alive.

Ask Mrs. Wilde; Bonnie's Favorite In-law

Mrs. Wilde: Did she say that? Well if she did, it's quite an honor all things considered. I mean, I've gotten to know Bonnie and Stu pretty well, and to be her favorite in-law out of the one-hundred and twenty or so other in-laws I know she has to deal with...well, I mean it means a lot more than if I were the favorite in-law out of five choices or so choices.

Perhaps it's because I'm....maybe more involved with their family than the others tend to be? I mean, Nick is my only son. So the family of the doe he's chosen to be mated to...well I mean, it's importantly to me at least that I have a good relationship with them. Meanwhile, a majority of the other Hopps are married or marrying large rabbit families. Perhaps not as large as the Hopps themselves, but still pretty large base on the things I've heard. With families of that size, I imagine there's less 'importance' surrounding getting to know and care for your in-laws considering you have so many...

Of course, there's also the fact that Bonnie and I are both kits of the eighties, *chuckles* So we had a lot to gush over in terms of goofy stuff we love that our kits roll their eyes at, particularly our fashion sense and taste in music. *Laughs* Seems like whether you lived in the country or city, the flair of the eighties afflicted everyone equally.

Vanna: I'd like to think that my sisters would be less awful about this than the boys are proving to be.

Qali: Easy for you to say, you have a picture! And so does Ada for that matter! *Crosses arms and pouts*

Ada: Yeesh Snowball, I don't tink I've ever seen youse dis sour before.

Qali: I just...I mean, I braided her fur! That's fun right? I'm a fun aunt...right?

Dawn: *Places a hoof on Qali's shoulder reassuringly* Of course you are Qali, Lily loves you.

Qali: I just really want a princess drawing too!

Vanna: *Shakes her head* It's like listening to another Goofball...

Val: If only you could all be as secure as I am in knowing that I'm the cool aunt.

Ada: And where did yous get dat idea?

Qali: Yeah! I don't see a princess drawing of you anywhere!

Val: Of course not, princesses aren't cool...so how could I be one.

Malcolm: Better hope lil' Lily don't hear y'all say that, or y'all would lose that 'cool aunt' status as quickly as y'all think ya had it.

Val: Pft...she'll figure it out sooner or later...*Glances around slyly* She...isn't around for this right? Like not in ear shot?

Dawn: Unless she was in the room there's little chance she'd hear it. Humans don't seem to have hearing on par with canines.

Val: Phew...I mean...er...I don't care...

Malcolm: See I figured Judy's probably the cool aunt.

Judy: Me? Why me?

Dawn: Well, Lily is talking an awful lot about police work, and law enforcement related topics.

Judy: True, but, isn't Vernon's entire family working in law to some degree?

Dawn: Yes, but you and Vanna are the only female officers she knows.

Vanna: Wouldn't that make me the 'cool' aunt?

Malcolm: Maybe, but Judy is a big city cop. I figure she deals with more serious stuff twice as often as you...

Vanna: I used to be a city cop.

Malcolm: Does Lily know that?

Vanna: Well...no...

Qali: It doesn't matter anyway, she's got her drawing!

Giselle: Just be patient Qali. I imagine we'll all get one sooner or later...

Qali: *Pouts quietly*

Clover: Yes, it's important not to rush the the girl...

Audrey: And even iffin' if y'all don't get a piece o' paper, so what? Y'all know them pups love their aunts, so why are y'all so fixated on getting' drawin's? So y'all can prove it?

Clover: And who are you trying to prove it to?

Vanna: This is what I was telling Zach...

Ada: *Chuckles* Well Zach was always a whiner...o'course it doesn't help dat my Mookie got a picture ahead of him...

Vanna: It definitely made it worse...

Ada: Well here's hopin' ya mate get's a picture of him as da biggest, frilliest King Princess who ever lived. Sometin' that'll make him both proud dat he finally got one, but embarrassed because it makes him look so goily...*Cackles*

Ask Bogo; The Wilde Hopps Betting Pool

Bogo: Officer Finnick doesn't work in this branch of the ZPD, that much I flatly deny. While my Officers do tend to make all sorts of...*Shakes head* foolish wagers and odd gambles that I'm somewhat forced to look the other way about in order to...”maintain a certain level of morale and camaraderie” among the officers, they don't tend to do 'cross-station' betting on specific officers. It's more something that's reserved for out annual ball games or other such frivolities.

That said, I've heard talk about the “Hopps-Wilde” betting pool around the office. Hushed murmurs and whispers by pretty much any other officer aside from Clauhauser....who more than likely started the betting pool in the first place. Of the many things I can say about Clawhauser, he's not shy when it comes to doing things like that, nor is he...intimidated by me like the other officers. So he was quite forthcoming with the existence of the bet, and has pestered me more than once about throwing my horns into the ring. Of course, I flat out told him again and again that I 'don't waste my time with trifling things like that.' After all, I think it would be a cruel misuse of my authority take in so much of my fellow officers paychecks on such a sure thing. Of course, Clawhauser only pressed me further after that remark, saying 'if I was so certain I'd win, then I should be willing to at least put up something...”

*Sigh* So, I put some money down on a spring wedding. It's the most popular time of year for rabbit weddings, and with Lieutenant Hopps coming from a very traditional rabbit family, I can't see it happening at any other time of year. I don't think Wilde has nearly enough family members to argue down that many rabbits with a different suggestion.

There, you have you answer, now get out of my office.
