Hey everybody, first I want to start off by telling those of you following my ask Blog that I'm currently working on the next page of Savage Love, and so that's where the asks have went for the moment. Ideally, I want to finish that before the end of next week so you guys can have that to look forward to.
Moving on to the next thing, and the crux of this overall post will be directed at both Patreon folk and people following my ask blog. Recently I did a bunch of write-ups for the next five chapters of the Family Vulpes, and a new chapter for 'Tales from The BellHunterverse'. I'm currently debating whether to share that on Patreon or not, lest it sort of spoils things, and you can feel free to comment or email me with your opinion on that. However, that's not the actual question I wanted to pose. You see I'm sort of at a crossroads here in terms of work management. I want to write, but I've also got an idea about doing another art pack for May. And the fact of the matter is I can only really pick one or the other because said projects will eat up a lot of my time.
Either way, I'd still be able to get sketches in and still have to do commissions in between, so the question is...which is honestly more relevant for those of you following my Patreon than the ask blog. Which would you prefer I put a more concentrated effort toward? Do you want me to spend more time focusing on fic chapters and getting them out quicker, or do you prefer having a semi-steady release of drawings with ultra-slow chapter releases?
If I dedicate more time to writing rather than drawing, I'll have less content to share on Patreon overall as the writing would be a bit slower to begin with...and probably less visually stimulating, but chapters would release faster overall. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by giving hard estimates, but I'll say significantly better than the current speed.
On the other hand, if I stay the course and focus on drawing you're going to get fic entries and the current pace which is like, between my writing and my editor screening it, twice a year. At that rate, I conclude the Val fic as I approach my 50s in the best-case scenario. Half kidding there. And I do like writing, and want to write...but with my health and my focus on art it's really taken a hard backseat because drawing is...well easier for me. Writing takes a lot of focus, and little distraction for long tracts of time. With a drawing, once I have an idea of how it should look, it's all muscle memory in terms of execution. Plus I haven't done an art pack to sell on Gumroad since the start of the fall of last year.
So you can see why I'm very torn, and why I'm pitching this to you guys, my Patreon folks (Of course I'd be happy to hear what those of you reading the ask blog think too.) After all, you Patreon folks are supporting me financially, and in the end, my output is guided by you. What you want to see release is important to me, and while I know it would be impossible or expected of me for you guys to have a rigid stance on what I create, I still would like your input.
I'll simplify things by putting it to a poll on Patreon, and let you guys sort it out in the simplest of terms. That way no one has to write a long response unless they feel the need to justify their vote.
Thanks,
-Wasty
